Selective Insurance is offering an 11-week, full-time Summer Internship Program for students majoring in Computer Science or Software Engineering. The program provides on-the-job assignments, team projects, and exposure to senior leadership, with a hybrid work setup requiring commuting distance to Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC.

You will work with experienced engineers on building software solutions, using modern tech stacks, cloud platforms, and Agile practices, including a community volunteer

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers to design, build, and test custom software applications that support our Commercial Lines business.
• Contribute to real-world projects using modern tech stacks, cloud platforms, and agile methodologies.
• Explore and experiment with Generative AI tools and APIs to enhance business processes and customer experiences.
• Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and team stand-ups to learn how software is built in a professional environment.
• Work cross-functionally with peers and leaders on an Action Learning Project that addresses a real business challenge.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (rising juniors or seniors preferred).
• Passion for technology, curiosity to learn, and a drive to build impactful solutions.
• Demonstrated experience in programming languages and a willingness to learn new languages and technologies
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• College credit can be earned depending on your institution's requirements.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma required. Ideal internship candidates will be full-time undergraduate college Juniors or Seniors, with the ability to perform at a professional level.

Pay Range

USD $25.00 - USD $28.00 /Hr.
