Job description

IT Systems and Cloud Engineer

This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Microsoft Azure environments, overseeing on‑premise infrastructure, and ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of the company’s network and cloud services.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the design, implementation, migration to, and management of Microsoft Azure environments to support our organizational needs.
  • Manage Particle Measuring Systems Cloud infrastructure, including SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, and cloud‑connected networking.
  • Ensure cloud systems are running and performing as they should by actively monitoring and responding to incidents that might affect highly available and performant systems.
  • Manage escalated cloud infrastructure incidents.
  • Supervise extensive hands‑on technical knowledge of network systems, protocols, and standards.
  • Maintain strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS services, Entra AD, Conditional Access, Microsoft Intune, Active Directory Services, Windows Server OS, VMware, and storage technologies.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Microsoft modern workplace, including Office 365, SharePoint, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, Viva, and Defender XDR.
  • Hands‑on experience and knowledge of networking, including the OSI 7‑layer model, various management and analysis tools, Cisco technologies like Secure Endpoint, Windows Defender, Zscaler, Citrix, and networking protocols.
  • Configure and manage via Intune for device management, security policies, and application deployment.
  • Provide experience working in a switched and routed environment.
  • Resolve hardware, software, and network connection troubleshooting issues.
  • Install and configure firewalls, switches, routers, wireless bridges, etc.
  • Apply knowledge of security software, firewall appliances, Linux systems builds and management, and network security measures.
  • Apply knowledge and understanding of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Manufacturing industry software knowledge in products such as Autodesk/AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Telephony knowledge of Poly, Crestron, and AMX room AV systems is a plus.
  • Track record in identifying and developing solutions that enhance quality, delivery speed, and efficiency, prioritizing automation technologies to improve customer and employee experiences.
  • Implement platform integrations and automations between various cloud platforms.
  • Use automation with a variety of programming languages and tools, including Bash, PowerShell, and Python, with minimal assistance from others.
  • Experience in a recognized ITSM framework, ensuring management of environment configuration, IT hardware inventory management, licensing, software distribution, and PC/end‑user onboarding and offboarding of all IT equipment.
  • Provide support and escalation to a team of IT specialists and projects.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify and address IT infrastructure requirements.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for IT systems, processes, and configurations.
  • Ensure the security and compliance of IT systems in accordance with industry standards and company policies.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Assist in the development of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Provide after‑hours support and weekends when needed.
  • Maintain a team‑oriented, proactive, problem‑solving mindset.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience with network and server management.
  • Strong knowledge of IT security practices and protocols.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven expertise in configuring, managing, and optimizing Azure cloud services.
  • Strong knowledge of Intune for device management, security, and application deployment.
  • Experience with network architecture, security, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
  • Demonstrable extensive experience and practical configuration and deployment of cloud infrastructure.
  • Demonstrable extensive experience in Azure Cloud and associated Microsoft technologies.
  • AZ-104 Azure Administrator certification.
  • AZ-305 Azure Architect Expert certification.
  • SC-300 Identity and Access Associate certification.
  • MS-100 Microsoft 365 Identity and Services certification.
  • Zscaler and zero‑trust solutions experience is a plus.
  • ITIL certified or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
  • Ability to evaluate and implement emerging technologies.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement mindset.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role primarily operates in an office/lab/manufacturing environment. Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods of time. It is a hybrid position, requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in‑office. Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs may be required.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive base salary range: $95,000 - $142,000. Comprehensive benefits include health coverage (medical, dental, vision, FSA, onsite clinic for CO employees), life insurance, 401(k) retirement plan with company match, vacation, holiday, and leave policies, tuition reimbursement, employee recognition programs, and employee assistance programs.
