Job summary

Meijer is seeking an IT Associate Manager to lead an agile team and deliver business value through strong coaching, budgeting, and strategic planning. The role oversees staffing, roadmap execution, and cross-functional collaboration with vendors and partners.

The position follows a hybrid work model with in-office days and remote days, requiring leadership experience and deep knowledge of TypeScript ecosystems and modern frontend/mobile architectures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business Information Systems, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent work experience and technical training is required.
  • 5 years of experience in business or systems development, including implementation and installation in an online environment.
  • Demonstrating leadership skills and possessing a track record of managing technical staff (cross-functional experience highly desirable).
  • Familiarity managing budgets and understanding impact of financial decisions to P&L.
  • Experience in the retail industry or in a production/service environment is preferred.
  • Strategic leadership across a cross-platform product organization spanning web, mobile, CMS, and shared platform engineering
  • Technical fluency in TypeScript-based ecosystems, especially React, Next.js, React Native, and Expo
  • Ability to lead teams working in monorepos with shared packages, reusable UI systems, and platform ownership boundaries
  • Understanding of API-driven architecture, including GraphQL, REST integrations, and type-safe contracts across services
  • Experience guiding frontend and mobile architecture decisions around performance, scalability, maintainability, and developer experience
  • Familiarity with content platforms and headless CMS operations, including schema-driven content models, publishing workflows, and admin tooling
  • Strong product-engineering partnership skills, with the ability to translate customer, business, and content needs into technical execution plans
  • Experience coaching engineers through architectural tradeoffs rather than only directing implementation details
  • Strong operational judgment in prioritization, technical debt management, dependency decisions, and roadmap sequencing
  • Ability to lead cross-functional execution involving design systems, accessibility, content operations, QA, and platform stakeholders
  • Clear communication skills for hiring, mentoring, performance management, technical planning, and executive-facing status reporting

Responsibilities

The IT Associate Manager is a leadership role in an agile environment, responsible for developing a high functioning team and coaching team members to support skills development and career growth. The IT Associate Manager is responsible for planning and managing all projects and budgets within assigned business areas to deliver business value.

Position follows our hybrid schedule: Monday-Wednesday in office, Thursday-Friday remote.

What You'll Be Doing:

Manages scrum team, scrum masters and technical POs within an agile train.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):
