Job summary

Base-2 Solutions seeks an Information System Security Officer to guide development and operations teams toward securing systems and attaining Authority to Operate (ATO). You will coordinate RMF activities, maintain SSPs, SCTMs, STPs, and POAMs, and load artifacts like STIG checklists and ACAS scans.

The role requires strong risk assessment skills, incident response experience, and a sustained focus on regulatory compliance, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field with 9+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience developing, implementing, and enforcing security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Proven track record conducting risk assessments and identifying vulnerabilities in systems, networks, and applications.
• Experience developing and overseeing mitigation strategies to reduce security risks.
• Strong background monitoring systems and networks for security breaches.
• Successful history of responding to security incidents, investigating root causes, and implementing corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with application leads, system administrators, DBAs, developers, and testers to ensure security compliance and maintain ATO.
• Follow the RMF process for full test, partial test, CONMON, and no-test scenarios.
• Update Xacta documentation including SSPs, SCTM, STPs, and POAMs.
• Load artifacts such as STIG checklists and ACAS scans.
• Help implement STIG checklists and mitigate scan findings.
• Answer questions to ensure security is built in during development.
• Support security assessment events and respond to questions from ST&E team, ISSMs, and SCAs.
