Qualifications

• Must meet one of these 3 options when hired:
• At least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education
• Obtained an associate’s degree or higher
• Meet a rigorous standard of quality test

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays, if needed.
• Provide supervision for students assigned to the In-School Suspension classroom.
• Work with students and staff on behavior management and prevention of undesirable behaviors assigned to ISS.
• Monitor all ISS assignments, provide encouragement and feedback to students, monitor tests and classwork, and provide instructional assistance as appropriate.
• Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups or whole class.
• Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom (lunchroom, bus, playground).
• Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
• Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
