Job summary

A gaming company is looking for a SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR II - iSeries to oversee the technical architecture of their IBM iSeries systems. Responsibilities include daily maintenance, performance tuning, and managing security protocols, as well as project management for disaster recovery. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of OS/400 and VIOS, along with strong problem-solving and communication skills. This is a full-time role based in New York.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of the OS/400 operating system.
• Experience managing Virtual I/O Servers for partitioned systems.
• Proficiency with the Hardware Management Console for managing logical partitions.
• Experience with storage-based replication and SAN.
• Experience with power systems firmware and OS upgrades.
• Skills in CL and SQL for automation.
• Working knowledge of networking protocols.
• Familiarity with performance monitoring tools.
• Relevant IBM iSeries certifications are beneficial.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance and configuration of iSeries systems.
• Install and maintain VIOS, HMC, and iSeries hardware.
• Analyze system performance and implement tuning strategies.
• Manage backup and restore processes.
• Implement and maintain security best practices.
• Provide technical support to users and IT teams.
• Create and maintain system documentation.
• Work on projects like disaster recovery and system migrations.
• Plan role-swaps and document new techniques.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
