Wright Flood is looking to add an iSeries Development Supervisor to its ever growing IT team!
The iSeries Development Supervisor is accountable for managing and coordinating iSeries resources and processes to deliver software products while participating in defining the strategy for the iSeries development team. The iSeries Development Supervisor’s role extends throughout the Technology Department to ensure that all the goals set by management are achieved in the most cost efficient and effective manner with adherence to time, cost, regulatory and quality parameters.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/JOB DUTIES:
- Works together with Internal and External Customers to plan and execute tasks and requests by ensuring the teams have appropriate product and technical specifications, direction, and resources to deliver products effectively by establishing realistic estimates for timelines while ensuring the requests remain on target to meet deadlines.
- Works closely with all the Product Departments and Business Analysts for understanding the system’s functional and non-functional requirements.
- Lead and establish priorities for, and manage subsequently, the day-to-day work of the iSeries developers.
- Supervise a team of iSeries professionals by developing effective training procedures, appropriate task assignments, positive customer experiences and top-quality control processes.
- Aim to meet all project goals within the specified time and budget of the client and the organization; adjust practices to reflect cost saving measures.
- Determine and manage the technical infrastructure/frameworks to deliver robust, secure, and reliable iSeries applications and services.
- Advise on and plan for future developments, including preparation of requirements specifications.
- Provide professional support and work pro-actively with all iSeries development staff.
- Provide advice and guidance on iSeries issues across the organization, including working closely with all iSeries development staff.
- Demonstrates leadership abilities to our clients with the deployment of software upgrades, enhancements and fixes that are coordinated based on release schedules.
- Provides a software iSeries development plan that meets the future needs of our clients and markets, based on the state-of-the-art technologies.
- Evolves the existing software system applications and architecture in various areas as needed.
- Conducts daily SQA meetings to ensure all testing is on track with clearly defined plans for a successful execution.
- Assists iSeries developers to resolve both technical problems as well as human resources issues.
- Provides leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead team members to their optimum performance levels and career development.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field desired.
- Minimum of 3 years of management/leadership experience in a software development organization is required.
- Strong understanding of the software development cycle.
- Strong leadership, project management skills, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to address all current software environments and technical issues.
- High command of verbal and written English.
- Ability to apply sound judgment in successful task planning and execution.
- Communicates with the highest standards of professionalism.
- Self-motivated, team player, action and results oriented.

- Development Supervisor may be required to work some evenings and weekends to meet project deadlines.
