Eide Bailly LLP is seeking an IRS Tax Controversy Senior Associate to join our California team in Ontario, Torrance, Irvine, Long Beach or Pasadena. This role blends in-office and hybrid work arrangements and requires a CPA or EA with public accounting or tax resolution experience.

You will consult on federal tax matters, manage IRS projects, coordinate with audit and collections staff, and interact with clients and firm leaders while upholding the highest professional standards and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• 3+ years of public accounting or tax resolution experience; IRS experience preferred but not required.
• CPA or Enrolled Agent certification.
• Strong problem-solving and confidentiality.
• Excellent communication and ability to interact with all levels of firm management and clients.
• Motivated self-starter with ability to work independently.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide consulting services for federal tax groups including federal audits, federal tax collection issues and tax resolution services.
• Assist in management and delivery of client IRS, audit, Appeals, collection and penalty abatement projects, including review and analysis of client data, and preparation of required supporting documents and IRS filings.
• Contact and work with IRS audit, collection and Appeals staff regarding client projects and filings.
• Manage client deadlines and the workflow for multiple parties, including internal and external clients.
• Participate in professional association meetings and forums.

Typical Day in the Life

A typical day as an IRS Tax Controversy Senior Associate might include the following:

• Provide consulting services for various federal tax groups including federal audits, federal tax collection issues and tax resolution services.


• Assist in management and delivery of client IRS, audit, Appeals, collection and penalty abatement projects, including review and analysis of client data, and preparation of required supporting documents and IRS filings.


• Contact and work with IRS audit, collection and Appeals staff regarding client projects and filings.


• Manage client deadlines and the workflow for multiple parties, including internal and external clients.


• Participate in professional association meetings and forums.

Who You Are

• You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.


• You have 3+ years of public accounting or tax resolution experience. Previous IRS examination, collection, or federal tax consulting experience is preferred, but is not a requirement


• You have a CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification.


• You have a knack for solving problems and easily notice issues while bringing solutions to the table.


• You hold yourself to the highest professional standards and maintain strict client confidentiality.


• You have excellent communication skills as well as the ability to effectively interact with all levels of Firm management and staff, clients and other external business contacts.


• You are a motivated self-starter who enjoys working independently.


• You are proficient in Microsoft Office and have strong computer skills.

Compensation

Compensation: $97,000-$112,000

Our compensation philosophy emphasizes competitive and equitable pay. Eide Bailly complies with all local/state regulations regarding displaying ranges. Final compensation decisions are dependent upon factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and internal equity.
