Down to Earth is seeking an Irrigation Technician to install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems across Florida client properties. The role emphasizes water efficiency, system performance, and high-quality landscape care.

Ideal candidates bring 2–4 years of hands-on irrigation experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and a valid Florida driver’s license. The team values safety, reliability, and customer service as we support growth and community projects.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair irrigation systems including valves, heads, piping, wiring, and controllers.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot leaks, low pressure, electrical faults, or coverage problems.
• Adjust and program irrigation controllers for proper watering schedules and efficiency.
• Perform seasonal start-ups, system audits, and winterization.
• Replace or repair damaged components and make system improvements as needed.

Job description

As an Irrigation Technician, you will install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems that support healthy, attractive landscapes. This role is critical to ensuring efficient water use, proper system performance, and consistent landscape quality across client properties. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, enjoys hands‑on outdoor work, and takes pride in troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect, maintain, and repair irrigation systems including valves, heads, piping, wiring, and controllers
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues such as leaks, low pressure, electrical faults, or coverage problems
• Adjust and program irrigation controllers to ensure proper watering schedules and water efficiency
• Perform seasonal start-ups, system audits, and winterization as required
• Replace or repair damaged components and make system improvements as needed
• Ensure irrigation systems comply with local water regulations and conservation practices
• Communicate findings, repairs, and recommendations to supervisors or clients clearly
• Maintain accurate service records and reports
• Assist with irrigation installations or upgrades when required
• Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and environmental guidelines
• Performing preventative and diagnostic system checks on an ongoing basis
• Reporting system check findings to the operations leadership team
• Understanding client needs while meeting or exceeding expectations
• Troubleshooting and resolving irrigation issues in a timely and efficient manner
• Safely operating and maintaining irrigation equipment and all other company property
• Communicating escalations to the Account Manager and/or Irrigation Manager
• Maintaining a positive and collaborative attitude with internal and external clients

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2–4 years of hands‑on experience working with irrigation systems
• Strong knowledge of irrigation components and repair techniques
• Mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Physical ability to lift equipment, dig, and perform manual labor
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
• Reliable transportation

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Experience with commercial or large‑scale irrigation systems
• Irrigation certifications (e.g., Irrigation Technician, Certified Irrigation Technician, or equivalent)
• Familiarity with major irrigation brands and controllers (Rain Bird, Hunter, Toro, etc.)
• Experience with smart irrigation systems and water management technology
• Knowledge of local water use regulations and conservation standards
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage daily service routes
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Interest in career advancement within irrigation management or landscape operations
• 2 Wire troubleshooting is highly desirable
• Valid Florida Driver’s License and the ability to pass an MVR check
