Job summary

To perform irrigation and related maintenance tasks.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • General: Be able to perform all responsibilities required of an irrigation technician.
  • Employees: Assist in the performance of various irrigation functions.
  • Equipment: Share responsibility for checking and changing oil and grease in basic equipment; supervise truck/trailer setup daily and manage equipment and supplies; oversee proper safety devices; maintain equipment; operate light/heavy equipment; report problems.
  • Safety: Ensure proper task‑specific PPE is used; follow company policies and safety standards; ensure a safe environment for other workers, vendors, and clients.
  • CSRs: Interface with client when needed and establish relationships; conduct quality control; recognize and report irrigation deficiencies; communicate with Operations Manager and Account Manager regarding job site status.
  • Training: Identify training needs and participate in irrigation procedures training program.
  • Irrigation Maintenance: Provide estimates; operate pumps, suction and other equipment; manage projects with effective water management; recognize drainage deficiencies and problem soils; minimum of 2 years experience; irrigation certification recommended; knowledge of blueprints.
  • Refuse Removal: Safely operate a refuse truck in residential areas; lift/move heavy items; know lock‑in/lock‑out procedure; operate compactor.
  • Cleaning: Knowledge of appropriate PPE; safely use cleaning supplies and solvents; work in residential and commercial areas.
  • Snow Removal: Safely use snow removal equipment; safe driving techniques in snow and ice; appropriate clothing for weather conditions.
Qualifications
  • Age: Must be at least 18 years of age and meet applicable state labor laws.
  • Experience: Previous experience as Crew Member; 6‑12 months of commercial experience as crew leader preferred; completed Crew Member training guide.
  • Knowledge: Mainscape Standards of Excellence.
  • Ability to: Enforce safety for customers, job sites, and company employees; enforce company safety policies; drive and back‑up truck and trailer; interact with customer; correct unsafe conditions; adhere to policies; work with team; meet or exceed production rates.
  • Certificates/Licenses: Valid driver’s license; pesticide license preferred.
  • Language skills: Communicate with crew members; bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
  • Physical Demands: Full mobility; reach overhead; lift up to 25 lbs regularly, up to 75 lbs occasionally; maintain physical fitness; vision requirements.
  • Working Conditions: Weekend or overtime hours; odd hours during inclement weather; office, shop, and field; exposure to elements, fumes, chemicals, high noise.
  • Evaluation: Demonstrated no days of unexcused absence in past 6 months; punctuality; dress code compliance; completed all training; performed essential duties; supervisor recommendation for advancement.
