Job summary

Invited is hiring an Irrigation Technician to repair, operate, maintain, and construct irrigation and drainage systems for our golf courses. You will handle PVC, ADS, and poly piping, addressing surface and subsurface drainage as needed.

The role requires skilled and semi-skilled irrigation construction work with a strong focus on safety and efficiency, reporting to the Equipment Manager or Superintendent. You will work outdoors across the greens, tees, and related facilities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience in golf course irrigation and satellite systems.
  • Irrigation association certification or backflow device inspection/maintenance certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular maintenance on irrigation systems, ensuring proper function and coverage.
  • Repair and replace broken equipment; wash, fuel and return tools to storage.
  • Maintain daily usage records and report issues to Superintendent.
  • Safely operate powered equipment like backhoes, trenchers, sod cutters, and golf course mowers.
  • Keep equipment and tools out of play areas and minimize noise for golfers.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
  • Inform department heads of major issues and progress.
  • Keep all course areas free of debris.

Job Summary:

The Irrigation Technician is responsible for the repair, operation, maintenance, and construction of irrigation and drainage systems including ensuring that all systems operate within their original design specifications. This role involves both skilled and semi-skilled irrigation construction and maintenance work, including the repair and installation of PVC, ADS (slotted and solid), and poly pipes and fittings. Additionally, the role requires a strong understanding of drainage issues and the ability to address surface and subsurface drainage problems through modification, addition, and installation of appropriate drainage solutions.

Reporting Structure:
  • Reports to the Equipment Manager or Superintendent
Day to Day:
  • Perform regular maintenance on irrigation systems, including cleaning and adjusting sprinkler heads to ensure proper function and coverage, and replacing or repairing broken equipment.
  • Keep all irrigation equipment in good working order by washing, fueling (if applicable), and returning equipment to designated storage areas.
  • Maintain daily usage records and report any issues or overuse to Superintendent.
  • Safely operate powered equipment such as backhoes, trenchers, and sod cutters, as well as mowers for gold course greens, aprons, and tees, when required.
  • Ensure equipment and tools are kept out of the play area and minimize noise to avoid disturbing golfers.
  • Respond promptly to after-hours emergencies as needed.
  • Keep department heads informed of major issues and progress in a timely manner.
  • Keep all areas on the golf course, including tee boxes, flowerbeds, and work carts, free of debris.
Additional Duties:
  • Due to the dynamic nature of the club, employees are expected to assist others as needed and take on additional tasks as assigned by management.
  • Follow all company, club, and department policies, procedures, and instructions.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and a commitment to excellence in interactions with members, colleagues, and staff.
  • Follow safe working practices, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Take the initiative in personal and professional growth and maintain any required certifications relevant to your role.
  • Address and resolve challenges using available resources, working with regional and corporate teams to support club operations.
  • Attend daily briefings and actively engage in required activities to stay informed and contribute to the team’s success.
About You:

Required

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Preferred

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in golf course irrigation and satellite systems.
  • Irrigation association certification or backflow device inspection and maintenance certification.
  • Technical knowledge and hands‑on experience with various types of golf course maintenance equipment, including understanding replacement parts, supplies, and resources needed for equipment upkeep and repair.
Physical Requirements:
  • Primarily outdoors with frequent exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures and humidity.
  • Sitting, standing, walking, climbing/ladders, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying up to 100 lbs., talking, hearing, and seeing.
Primary Tools/Equipment:
  • Construction tools (shovels, axes, sledgehammers, etc.)
  • Gardening tools (pruners, rakes, hedge shears, trimmers, etc.)
  • Blowers
  • Water pumps
Work Schedule:
  • Attendance requirements for this position as outlined on the weekly schedule.
  • Additional hours a are required to meet deadlines of the position, including weekends and/or holidays.
