The Role
As a Seasoned Technician at Conserva Irrigation, you aren't just "fixing sprinklers"—you are a water conservation expert. We are looking for a high-level professional to lead field operations, perform complex diagnostic repairs, and mentor junior staff. You will work with industry-leading smart technology (controllers, flow sensors, and weather-based systems) to provide premium service to our residential and commercial clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex electrical and hydraulic issues, including two-wire systems and localized valve failures.
- System Upgrades: Retrofit aging systems with smart controllers, high-efficiency nozzles, and flow-sensing technology.
- Maintenance & Operations: Lead spring start-ups, mid-season efficiency audits, and winterization blowouts.
- Client Management: Perform "System Efficiency Scores" (SES) and educate clients on how to reduce water waste while maintaining a lush landscape.
- Team Leadership: Oversee job site safety and quality control for Level 1 technicians and helpers.
Skill Requirements for a Seasoned Technician
- Expert Diagnostics: Proficiency with a multi-meter and wire tracers/toners to locate "lost" valves and electrical shorts.
- Smart Technology Mastery: Deep experience with WiFi-enabled controllers (e.g., Hunter Hydrawise, Rain Bird LNK) and flow sensor integration.
- Hydraulic Knowledge: Understanding of GPM (gallons per minute), PSI (pressure) requirements, and friction loss to ensure optimal head-to-head coverage.
- Two-Wire Experience: Knowledge of decoders and troubleshooting communication issues in large-scale commercial loops.
- Drip & Micro-Irrigation: Advanced skills in designing and repairing low-volume drip systems for garden beds.
- Professionalism: Strong communication skills to explain technical issues to homeowners and justify system upgrades.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3–5+ years of professional irrigation experience (specifically in service/repair).
- Licensing: Valid New Jersey driver’s license with a clean record (required). A NJ Irrigation License (CIC) or CIT certification is a major plus.
- Physical Ability: Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
Why Join Conserva
- Premium Tools: We provide a fully equipped, late-model vehicle and top-tier diagnostic equipment.
- Growth Path: We support and pay for industry certifications (CIT, CLIA, etc.).
