Job summary

Auburn University Facilities Management is seeking a dedicated Irrigation Technician to help maintain campus landscapes. In this hands-on role, you'll inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair irrigation systems and assist with new installations across Auburn's grounds.

As part of the Landscape Services team, you will schedule watering, operate irrigation equipment, and support campus projects. Outdoor work and a commitment to quality workmanship are essential to success.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 1 year of irrigation installation or related landscape experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of irrigation installation experience, including 1 year at the previous level or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complex troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative and routine maintenance on irrigation systems.
  • Assists with University landscape projects by providing irrigation system support.
  • Programs all irrigation controllers for as-needed water distribution.
  • Operates machinery required to install and maintain irrigation systems including mini excavators, trenchers, small boring machines, and small utility tractors.
  • Schedules the watering of all irrigated areas around campus according to season, weather, and campus events.
  • Installs new irrigation systems through trenching, wiring, and valve box digging.
  • Assists in the design of new irrigation systems by mapping zones, determining pipe and line sizes, and selecting components.
  • Determines the appropriate amount of water required for irrigation by calculating flow rates (GPM) and water pressure (PSI).
  • May assist in installing and maintaining central control smart irrigation systems.
  • May be responsible for meeting and maintaining training and certification requirements as outlined by the applicable department's training and credentialing requirements.

Auburn University Facilities Management is seeking a dedicated Irrigation Technician to help maintain the beauty, health, and sustainability of Auburn's campus landscape. In this hands-on role, you'll be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing irrigation systems that support the university's grounds and outdoor spaces. You'll also assist with the installation of new irrigation systems and provide irrigation expertise for landscaping projects across campus.

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience specifically in irrigation installation, including at least 1 year at the previous level or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License
