Job summary

Reid Park Zoo in Tucson, AZ is seeking an experienced Irrigation Specialist to join our Grounds team. You will maintain irrigation systems that support our immersive botanical displays and animal habitats while serving as an ambassador for the zoo.

Three years of commercial irrigation experience are required, and experience in a park or attraction setting is strongly preferred. This hands-on role offers benefits and a schedule that includes some evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Three years of commercial irrigation experience are required.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• A valid, current, unrestricted driver's license is required.
• Willing to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and some holidays.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to maintain positive working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Installs, diagnoses, and repairs drip and sprinkler irrigation systems including emitters, sprinklers, valves, wires, controllers and related equipment.
• Programs, troubleshoots and diagnoses all types of controllers (central-based, digital, mechanical, battery, solar).
• Operates light to medium excavating equipment (backhoes, trenchers, loaders, ploughs).
• Prepares activity reports and maintains inventory of tools, parts and equipment.
• Safely uses tools and power equipment and ensures safety protocols are followed.
• Maintains landscape with emphasis on edible browse for the animal collection.
