Job summary

State of Tennessee, Department of Environment and Conservation, seeks a TSP Irrigation/Spray Technician in Henry County to operate and maintain irrigation and drainage systems on the golf course and grounds. You will assist in applying pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers per schedule and safety rules.

Responsibilities include monitoring water usage, maintaining MSDS compliance, supervising helpers as needed, and keeping accurate records of applications and equipment maintenance to support

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school.
• Substitution of Experience for Education: Landscaping, irrigation, chemical fertilizer application, or golf course maintenance can substitute for the required education.
• Must become a state licensed or certified Pesticide Applicator within 6 months of their hire date.
• A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required for employment.

Responsibilities

• Inspects turf, shrubs, lakes, and other outdoor areas to identify pesticide, herbicide and fertilizer needs; apply as directed and document applications.
• Participates in all aspects of golf course maintenance; may supervise crews for special projects; ensures safety and direction of chemical handlers and helpers.
• Waters greens, tees, fairways, rough, lawns and other areas; monitors daily water usage and informs supervisor of adjustments to irrigation settings.
• Performs preventive maintenance, repairs, and keeps records on irrigation and application equipment.
• Maintains MSDSs and chemical storage areas; ensures compliance with regulations; keeps chemical room orderly and secured.
• Keeps irrigation records including weather and rainfall data; compiles reports of chemical usage on the golf course.
• Maintains inventory of parts and products; recommends purchases to management.
