Job summary

Cherry Lake Tree Farm, Inc. is seeking an Irrigation Repair Technician to maintain and repair irrigation piping across multiple farm properties in Florida. You will handle PVC repairs from ½" to 14", service electronic valves, pumps, filters, and assist with system inspections and preventative maintenance.

The role requires physical endurance, ability to work weekends/holidays as needed, and readiness to operate an ATV while following all safety rules. English/Spanish bilingual is a plus.

Qualifications

• 1+ month of nursery/tree farm experience or related production work
• Prior irrigation maintenance experience is a plus
• Basic knowledge of irrigation clocks and electronic valves
• Plant knowledge and agricultural equipment familiarity
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus

Responsibilities

• Repair PVC pipe above and below ground ½" to 14".
• Perform daily maintenance on electronic valves and filter systems.
• Build onto existing pipe structures for land additions.
• Complete daily pump checks and document meter data.
• Work with a team to complete repairs and other tasks.

IRRIGATION REPAIR TECHNICIAN- Tree Farm

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for maintaining and repairing irrigation piping for numerous farm properties. Must be able to repair PVC pipe ranging in size from ½" up to 14". Will perform maintenance on all aspects of the system, including irrigation, mechanical, and electrical. Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of all farm irrigation infrastructure including pump stations, valves, air relief valves, and filters.Job Type: Full-Time Schedule: Tuesday–Saturday: 8-hour shifts &Sunday: 4-hour shift

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Repair PVC pipe above and below ground ranging in size from ½" up to 14".

• Perform daily maintenance on electronic valves and filter systems.

• Build on to existing pipe structure for land additions as specified by management

• Complete daily pump checks, record data from meters, and report findings back to the manager.

• Work alongside a team to complete repairs and other assigned tasks.

• Complete tasks as assigned by the Senior Irrigation Tech or Water Management Team Leader

• Responsible on weekends and holidays to make repairs when necessary.

• Responsible for working nights during extreme cold events or when power outages occur.

• Perform essential functions of the Irrigation Checker role as needed when shorthanded.

  • Monitor moisture levels on crops via soil probe and document on moisture level report

  • Make small above ground repairs to polly, valves and irrigation emitters

  • Manually run irrigation systems as needed and open/close ball valves as needed to keep optimal moisture level.

• Operate an ATV.

• Follow all Cherrylake's safety rules and regulations.

• All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 1+ month of prior experience working in a nursery or tree farm, in cultivation/harvesting and/or installation of commercial plant material, handling both manual and machine tasks associated with commodity production and harvest activities.

• Prior irrigation maintenance experience is a plus.

• Basic knowledge of irrigation clocks and electronic valves for troubleshooting purposes.

• Plant knowledge and identification is a plus.

• Knowledge of agricultural equipment is a plus.

• Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.

Physical Job Duties

• Work can be repetitive and physically demanding, requiring frequent bending, lifting, and shoveling.

• Regularly required to stand; walk; bend; crouch; squat; stoop or kneel.

• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
