Job summary

Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. seeks an Ironworker Helper for a Wilmington, NC project. Hired candidates will be considered for Benefits/Paid Time Off after 3 months.

This on-site position requires reliability, safety awareness, and ability to work at heights and with scaffolding.

Qualifications

• Written and verbal communication skills required.
• Complete all safety and general job training as required by SIC.
• Observe SIC safety and quality processes at all times.

Responsibilities

• Assist in installing, maintaining and operating measuring instruments for functional systems.
• Load, transport, unload and furnish materials, tools, and supplies to skilled craft workers.
• Clean work area and restock supplies as necessary.
• Work from scaffolding, ladders or other structures.
• Work overhead, at heights, and in confined spaces as conditions require.
• Lift and carry objects of varying weights.
• Detect and respond to dangerous conditions.
• Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of site, tools and equipment.
• Communicate directions from craft supervisors and respond to questions.
• Maintain regular attendance.
• Travel may be required.
• Perform other duties as required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in installing, maintaining and operating all instruments and measuring devices needed for functional systems.
• Load, transport, unload and furnish experienced craft worker with materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
• Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary.
• Perform work from scaffolding, ladders or other structures.
• Perform work overhead, at heights, beneath structures, and from various other positions as required by working conditions..
• Lift and carry objects of varying weights.
• Detect, recognize and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.
• Performs minor maintenance and cleaning activities of site, tools and equipment.
• Ability to verbally communicate directions from craft supervisors, and respond to questions from managers and fellow workers.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Significant travel may be required.
• Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

Physical Demands

• Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds.
• Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, as well as, confined spaces.
• Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position.
• Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools.
• Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in workboats, and working in awkward body positions.

Work Environment

• Conditions include working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions.
