Job summary

The Iron Worker Helper will assist skilled craftsperson by performing supportive duties as directed and will work under immediate supervision. The role often performs runner functions within crew and assists in layout and measuring of materials for installation.

Must learn safety hazards and how to safely use tools in a plant operations or construction jobsite setting. Responsibilities include loading and unloading materials, assisting with erection of girders and columns, lifting and securing

Qualifications

• Physical: Move through active construction sites and uneven terrain.
• Mental: Read, interpret, apply and communicate work instructions, plans and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Load, transport, and unload material, tools, equipment and supplies in support of crew
• Assist with raising, placing and uniting girders, columns and other structural steel to form completed structures
• Assist in lifting, positioning and securing materials and work pieces during installation
• Perform minor maintenance/cleaning of tools and equipment
• Assist other craft workers as needed
