Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Abilene, Texas is seeking an Entry level Fabricator Helper. You will learn to read blueprints, assist skilled craftsmen, and help position and install structural steel components on job sites.

This hands-on role requires reliability, physical stamina, and willingness to work outdoors in all weather. As an entry-level teammate, you will gain experience with tools, hoisting, alignment checks, and safety procedures while supporting projects that touch everyday

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent may be required.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Field experience in chosen craft discipline (fabrication/assembly) is beneficial.
• Knowledge of safe and efficient use of hand tools and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Learn to read specifications or blueprints to determine locations, quantities, or sizes of material.
• Assist skilled craftsmen to fabricate metal parts per blueprints or instructions.
• Assist with unloading and positioning prefabricated steel units for hoisting; signal operators to lift and position structural steel members.
• Learn to verify alignment of structural steel members using plumb bobs, lasers, transits, or levels.
• Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces using shears, torches, or welding equipment.
• Assemble hoisting equipment or riggings to move heavy equipment or materials.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Learn to read specifications or blueprints to determine the locations, quantities, or sizes of material required.
• Assist skilled craftsmanf to fabricate metal parts, such as steel frames, columns, beams, or girders, according to blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
• Assist with unloading and positioning prefabricated steel units for hoisting; hoists steel beams, girders, or columns into place, using cranes or signaling hoisting equipment operators to lift and position structural steel members.
• Learn to verify vertical and horizontal alignment of structural steel members, using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits, or levels.
• Cuts, bends, or welds steel pieces, using metal shears, torches, or welding equipment.
• Assemble hoisting equipment or riggings, such as cables, pulleys, or hooks, to move heavy equipment or materials.

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Must possess knowledge skills and abilities for position
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision
• Field experience in chosen craft discipline
• Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.

Requirements

• Able to meet all physical requirements.
• Must have all required tools
• Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
