Job summary

Three Rivers Construction Alliance in Joliet, IL invites aspiring Iron Workers to join a structured apprenticeship. The program runs three years with on-the-job training, five days a week, plus classroom nights Sept–May.

Wage progression begins at 60% of the stated scale in the first six months, rising through 70%, 75%, 80%, 85%, to 90% over 6‑month increments. Applicants must meet basic requirements (age, education, residency, license) and pass aptitude and oral interviews.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must have transportation to and from work and school.
• Must pass an aptitude test.
• Must take an oral interview.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be drug free.
• Must show proof of residency.
• Must live within the Local 444 jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

• Perform in categories including structural, ornamental, reinforcing and machinery moving and rigging.
• Erect structural steel bridges, viaducts, and other structures; install metal stairways, catwalks, grilles and fences.
• Attend apprenticeship school two nights per week (Sept–May) and work on the job five days a week for three years.
