Job summary

TEC Industrial is seeking an experienced Ironworker for construction projects in Kingsport, TN. The role focuses on layout, assembly of metal frames, rigging for crane movement, scaffolding, and welding or bolting steel units in place.

The candidate will work outdoors in varying conditions, read blueprints, adhere to safety policies, and perform basic rigging and flagging per OSHA standards. 3+ years of industrial experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years manufacturing, industrial, or field experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and instructions.
• Experience with rigging and basic safety practices.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions: Experienced Iron Worker

Prepare the layout of the project. Perform layout and assembly of metal frames, building components, and structures. Rig work for movement by crane. Erect and install scaffolding, hoisting equipment and rigging. Align and weld or bolt steel units in place. Set and adjust welding machine according to materials used. Identify and resolve hazards associated with assignments. Work with blueprints or instructions from supervisors.Work on top of stilts, ladders, and the top beams of buildings.Check work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications.Must be able to perform basic rigging practices as well as flagging practices based on OSHA 1926.1428. Must be able to safely use hand and power tools and follow Company and site safety policies.

Job Duties Include:

• Monitor and maintain building systems as assigned
• Execute various minor construction projects as required
• Willingness and ability to work various shifts and overtime on short notice, to meet businesses needs.
• Maintain equipment & clean around workstations.
• Interface with supervisor &/or manager to give progress updates as required
• Able to work outdoors in the elements
• Work in tight spaces physically able to climb up and down safely in proximity of manufacturing and process equipment.
• Elevated work > 4 fall protection required
• Minimum 3 years manufacturing, industrial, or field experience.

Requirements:

• Arrive at work on time, as scheduled, consistently, reliably, & complete each shift
• Follow all safety rules and standards for the company and for the site
• Understand and follow Instructions from the direct supervisor

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Must be capable of operating a standard 1/2 ton pick-up for occasional delivery and pick-up of materials and personnel and hold a valid, unrestricted motor vehicle operator's license issued by the state of residence, and the manual dexterity necessary to operate a standard desktop computer keyboard.
