Job summary

UVA Health System is seeking an Interventional Radiology Technologist for a limited term internal traveler position. The role focuses on preparing patients, maintaining sterile technique, and supporting image-guided procedures in a fast-paced, academic medical center.

Responsibilities include assisting physicians during complex cases, ensuring readiness of rooms and equipment, and maintaining high standards of radiation safety and infection prevention.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiography program required.
• ARRT (VI) certification required within one year of hire and ARRT licensure (R.T.) as applicable.
• Associate’s Degree in Radiography preferred.
• AHA Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Support diagnostic and therapeutic interventional procedures by preparing patients and maintaining sterile technique.
• Operate imaging equipment and assist physicians during complex cases.
• Prepare procedure rooms, imaging equipment, and supplies for high acuity and time-sensitive procedures.
• Position patients and operate fluoroscopic systems to produce high-quality images for real-time decision making.
• Adhere to radiation safety, infection prevention, and sterile technique standards.
• Communicate with patients and families to explain procedures and reduce anxiety.
• Collaborate with interventional radiologists, nurses, anesthesia teams, trainees, and other health professionals.
• Participate in quality improvement and support the academic mission with students and residents.

Education

Graduate of an accredited Radiography program

Associate’s Degree in Radiography (preferred)

ARRT (VI) certification required within 1 year of hire

AHA Health Care Provider BLS certification required
