Job summary

Matrix Service Co is seeking a construction support worker to assist crews with handling materials, tools, and equipment on job sites. The role emphasizes safety and adherence to company values while supporting daily field operations.

Responsibilities include unloading and storing items, ensuring housekeeping, and cooperating with supervisors to gain experience. The position requires lifting up to 50 pounds and working at heights as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist crew in construction duties under supervision or foreman.
  • Receive, store, and distribute materials, tools, equipment, and products.
  • Unload materials such as tools and equipment from freight cars/trucks and stock for storage.
  • Identify safety hazards and take corrective action to minimize risk.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervision.

Job description

Take direction from a skilled worker or foreman to assist crew in construction duties. Performs any combination of following tasks to receive, store, and distribute material, tools, equipment, and products within establishments.

TYPICAL DUTIES
  • Must be able to supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values.”
  • Must be able to represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.”

Must be able to work well with supervision and higher craftsman to gain construction experience.

Must be able to work with various hand tools.

Must be able to retrieve tools and equipment as needed.

Must be able to perform a good housekeeping in the areas assign for work.

  • Must be able to maintain tools & equipment in good conditions ready to be use.
  • Must be able to remove debris from roadways and work areas.
  • Must be able to perform variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools, air impacts, hand wrenches.
  • Must be able to unload materials, such as tools, equipment, sand, from freight cars and trucks, manually or with hand truck, and stacks for storage.

Must be able to identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.

Must be able to perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE
  • Must be willing to work frequent overtime.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to work at elevated heights from ladders, scaffolding, aerial work platforms, etc.
  • Must be able to work in pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds, such as raw or fabricated material, equipment or tools.
  • Must be able do frequent bending, kneeling, crouching and stooping and occasional climbing onto equipment.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions and duties outlined in this position are considered safety sensitive.
  • Must be able maintain an active status within the drug testing program.
Physical Requirements:
  • Stand or walk for long periods
  • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects
  • Lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds
  • Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, and specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

The pay rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience, specific skill set, geographic location, internal equity, and other factors influencing pay. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of this range, and in certain circumstances, may fall outside the listed hiring range.

Hiring range: $20.00 to $23.00per hour
