Job summary

Wellington Parc Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking an Infection Prevention Staff Development (IPSD), RN to join our compassionate care team and support our mission and core values. The role focuses on coordinating infection control programs, staff education, CPR training, and orientation for new and rehired staff in a long-term care setting.

The successful candidate will hold an active RN license, possess CPR teaching credentials, and have experience in long-term care or geriatric

Qualifications

• Current RN license by State Board of Nursing, active and in good standing.
• Valid CPR teaching certificate.
• Experience in the long-term care or geriatric population preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure care team members receive compliance training and education for compassionate care.
• Document training in accordance with state, federal, and compliance requirements.
• Monitor performance and address compliance issues as needed.
• Develop and conduct orientation programs with HR for new and rehired staff.
• Provide hands-on clinical orientation and instruction to licensed and unlicensed personnel.
• Conduct or coordinate new staff and CPR training.
• Assess resident needs and design training programs accordingly.
• Collaborate with DNS to ensure nursing staff competency through evaluations.
• Collect and report infection data and trends to nursing staff and practitioners.
• Advise on infection risk assessment, prevention, and control strategies.
• Ensure infection control reports describe infection types and identify trends.
• Assist in department budget preparation and manage expenditures.

The Staff Development Coordinator assesses, plans, organizes, implements, evaluates, and coordinates, the community’s infection control and staff development program while performing clinical tasks and assisting in other departments.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure that care team members receive compliance training and education necessary to perform their job responsibilities with compassionate care.
• Ensure that documentation for all training is completed in accordance with state, federal, and compliance requirements.
• Monitor care team member performance and take necessary action for compliance issues.
• Develop and conduct an orientation program in collaboration with the HR Coordinator for new and rehired care team members.
• Provide hands-on clinical orientation and instruction to licensed and unlicensed personnel.
• Conduct or coordinate new care team member job training and CPR training.
• Assess resident needs in relation to staff abilities and design appropriate training programs.
• Work with the Director of Nursing Services (DNS) ensuring clinical competency of nursing staff through observed skills evaluation, and conduct annual competency assessments for licensed nursing staff and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
• Collect, analyze, and provide infection data and trends to nursing staff and health care practitioners.
• Consult on infection risk assessment, prevention, and control strategies.
• Ensure the community’s infection control reports describe the types of infections and are used to identify trends and patterns.
• Assist in department budget preparation and contain expenditures within budget.

REQUIREMENTS

• Current RN license by State Board of Nursing in state employed; license must be active, valid, and in good standing.
• Valid CPR teaching certificate.
• Experience in the long-term care or working with the geriatric population preferred.
