Placements24 is seeking a Crop Protection Specialist with IPM expertise to support clients in the Upington region. You will design and implement IPM programs, monitor fields for pests and diseases, and advise on best practices for crop protection and pesticide use.

The role requires a strong background in entomology, plant pathology, or weed science, plus at least four years of IPM experience in agricultural settings. Travel within the region and independent fieldwork are expected.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Entomology, Plant Pathology, Agronomy, or a related agricultural science field.
Minimum of 4 years in crop protection or IPM, preferably in a consulting or advisory role.
Deep knowledge of pest, disease, and weed identification and management.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements for crop protection products.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement comprehensive IPM programs for various crops.
Monitor fields to detect pests, diseases, and weeds and assess impact.
Recommend control strategies, prioritizing biological and cultural methods before chemicals.
Advise farmers and farm managers on crop protection and pesticide application best practices.
Conduct field trials to evaluate new crop protection products and methods.
Ensure compliance with pesticide use regulations and environmental protection rules.
Maintain records of pest outbreaks and control measures.
Provide training and educational resources on IPM principles.
Stay updated on latest IPM research and developments.
