Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a Touch Sensor Electrical Design & Integration Engineer to own the design and implementation of touch sensors.

You will build models to understand key tradeoffs and work with cross-functional teams to deliver sensor module solutions. Responsibilities include electromagnetic and circuit modeling, end-to-end system support, and collaboration across technology teams to evaluate design options and trade-offs.

Qualifications

• Strong analog/mixed-signal/electro-magnetic fundamentals.
• Experience with simulation and modeling tools (MATLAB, Python, SPICE).
• Bachelor's degree required.

Responsibilities

• Design of sensor modules, including electro-magnetic and circuit modeling.
• Support end-to-end system definition and development (sensor, DSP, ASIC, algorithms).
• Scope new sensor technologies and support proof-of-concept investigations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate design options and trade-offs.
• Review and define algorithms for signal and noise conditioning requirements.
• Optimize designs across multidisciplinary boundaries (mechanical, materials, process, calibration).
• Perform failure-mode analysis and root-cause analysis using system-level data.
• Support new product definition via engineering analysis and market research.
• Travel to support product development.

Description

As a Touch Sensor Electrical Design & Integration Engineer, you will own the design and implementation of touch sensors, build models to understand key tradeoffs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver sensor module solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design of sensor modules, including electro-magnetic modeling and circuit modeling
• Support of End-to-End system definition and development (sensor, signal processing, ASIC performance, algorithm development)
• Scoping of new sensor technologies and support of proof-of-concept investigations
• Collaboration with several different technology teams to evaluate system design options and trade-offs
• Review and define algorithms for signal and noise conditioning requirements
• Optimization of designs across multidisciplinary boundaries (Mechanical, materials, process, algorithms, calibration, testing, reliability, factory operations)
• Performing failure-mode analysis and root-cause analysis using system-level problem solving and statistical data analysis
• Support of new product definition through engineering analysis, market surveys and competitive analysis
• Business travel to support product development

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong analog/mixed-signal/electro-magnetic fundamentals
• Proficiency in FEA (Comsol, ANSYS, Maxwell), MATLAB, Python, SPICE, or similar simulation and modeling tools
• Minimum requirement of a bachelors degree

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with system-level design
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Solid teamwork and leadership skills
• Ph.D or Masters degree in electrical engineering (or related field)
