A global law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Intellectual Property Attorney in California. This role focuses on advising clients on a full range of IP issues, managing IP portfolios, and drafting related contracts. The ideal candidate has at least 8 years of experience, a portable book of business, and a collaborative, business-minded approach. This position is fully remote with compensation based on collections and no minimum billing quotas.
Direct Counsel has partnered with a Global law firm who is seeking an experienced Senior Intellectual Property Attorney to join their established and growing firm. This role is designed for a seasoned IP professional who brings a strong client following and thrives in a collaborative, business-minded environment. You’ll have the opportunity to shape strategy, build client relationships, and work on sophisticated matters, without the pressure of a billable-hour quota.
Advise clients on a full range of intellectual property issues, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
Manage and expand domestic and international IP portfolios across diverse industries.
Draft, review, and negotiate IP-related contracts such as licensing, assignment, confidentiality, and joint venture agreements.
Provide IP due diligence in support of M&A and other corporate transactions.
Develop and execute IP protection, enforcement, and risk mitigation strategies.
Collaborate across practice areas to deliver integrated client solutions.
Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to the firm’s knowledge-sharing culture.
J.D. from an accredited law school.
Active bar membership in a state where an office is located (GA, TX, MD, NC, IL, OH, CO, CA, MO, FL, NY, PA, WI, UT, WA, D.C.)
Minimum of 8 years of experience practicing intellectual property law.
Portable book of business required.
Experience in an AmLaw 200 firm or comparable environment is a strong plus.
Demonstrated success managing client relationships and complex IP matters.
Exceptional analytical, writing, and business development skills.
Technical or scientific background preferred but not required.
Focus on client service, strategy, and results.
