Job summary

Cisco’s IOS-XE Image Install team in Milpitas is hiring a software engineer to build low-level Linux-based networking software. You’ll work on memory management, concurrency, sockets, and multithreading in C/C++, with strong debugging and testing practices.

As a senior contributor, you will lead features from design to production, mentor peers, and collaborate across teams to ensure reliability, scalability, and security for Cisco’s global enterprise networks.

Qualifications

• Memory management, concurrency, and multithreading in C/C++
• Experience with Linux systems programming (POSIX IPC, sockets, lifecycle)
• Distributed system architecture with control plane/data plane separation
• Debugging tools including GDB, Linux tracing utilities, and post-mortem crash analysis

Responsibilities

• Design and implement high-quality C/C++ for Linux-based networking software.
• Lead features from initial conception through production delivery.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across functional teams to ensure reliability and performance in high-availability environments
