Job summary

Opal Electronics is hiring an iOS Engineer to own the companion app that interfaces directly with Opal's hardware. You will work on pairing, connectivity, real-time device state, firmware delivery, and AI features, spanning on-device and cloud processing.

You will collaborate with hardware, firmware, and backend/ML teams in a small, fast-moving team. Expect hands-on ownership from architecture to App Store release and ship-ready code in a hardware-enabled product lineup.

Qualifications

• Strong Swift and SwiftUI/UIKit experience shipping production iOS apps.
• Experience with Core Bluetooth and real-time data streaming.
• Ability to own a feature end-to-end: architecture, implementation, testing, and App Store release.
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally with hardware, firmware, and backend/ML teams.

Responsibilities

• Device pairing and connectivity: BLE and Wi-Fi flows, reconnection handling, background connectivity, firmware update delivery.
• Real-time device experience: low-latency UI reflecting live device state and data streams.
• On-device and cloud AI features: coordinate local inference with cloud processing.
• Companion app architecture: device state, sync, offline handling, degraded connectivity.
• Native platform depth: background modes, push notifications, Bluetooth permissions, battery optimization.
