Job summary

The New York Times Company is seeking an iOS engineer intern to contribute on a variety of Swift-based features. You will work 35 hours per week in a hybrid role based in New York City, starting June 7, 2027, for 10 weeks, with a $40/hour wage and a strong emphasis on quality and independence.

You will collaborate with a supportive team, write unit tests, apply SwiftUI, and help promote best practices in iOS development while learning from experienced engineers at a world‑renowned institution.

Qualifications

• You have at least 6 months of educational or professional experience with iOS.
• Familiarity with iOS design patterns, memory management, and multi-threading.
• Hands-on iOS Swift experience, including writing unit tests and integration with SwiftUI.
• Good product sense and ability to translate goals into quality code.

Responsibilities

• You will create and maintain features (and, depending on the team, new apps) using Swift.
• You will participate in our technical discussions on developing product features.
• You will help promote standards in iOS development and delivery, and engage with the community of mobile developers at the Times.
• Where applicable, you will integrate with broader New York Times iOS platform code.
• Demonstrates support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
