Job summary

New Dawn Treatment Center in Reno, NV is seeking a dedicated SUD Counselor to join our team. You will provide compassionate support and evidence-based counseling to clients seeking recovery, contributing to our mission of transformative care.

Responsibilities include participating in treatment planning, conducting group and individual sessions, completing assessments, ensuring documentation and incident reporting, and coordinating care with other agencies as needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current and valid certification: SUDCC or CADC.
• Must have at least two years' experience working with clients with substance use disorder.
• Experience in conducting group sessions and one-on-one sessions is required.
• Understands evidenced-based treatment modalities.

• Conducts group sessions as scheduled, and documents as required.
• Assists with modifying behavioral problems, as needed.
• Responsible for initial treatment assessments, as well as follow up assignments.
• Ensures all documentation regarding client care, treatment and incidents is completed promptly.
• Provides crisis intervention to clients, as needed.
• Maintain a positive therapeutic environment, providing individual and group counseling.
• Oversee and manage client incidents, ensuring they are addressed promptly and effectively, and ensure that incident reports are completed accurately and on time.
• Complete necessary community referrals and ensure continuity of care with other agencies as needed.
• Conduct assessments, screenings, treatment planning, and managing clients' progress.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and maintain personal auto insurance coverage.
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
• Must have a current TB test or chest x-ray.
• Experience in electronic charting preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA and CFR-42 client confidentiality regulations.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work well and quickly under pressure both individually and as part of a team.
• Excellent project management skills to consistently meet deadlines.
