Job summary

Lake Detox & Wellness Center in Metairie, LA is seeking a licensed counselor to join our team for evenings and Fridays. You will provide individual, group and family therapy, perform assessments, and support admissions.

A bachelor's is required; master's preferred; licenses include LAC, CAC, LMSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, etc. We offer PTO, holidays, medical/dental/vision, and a supportive work home.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Current, unrestricted license - LAC, CAC, RAC, CCS, LMSW, LCSW, LPC (or PLPC), LMFT (or PLMFT), etc.
• A Counselor in Training (CIT) may be permitted in lieu of a license.
• Prior experience as a clinician in addiction treatment/dual-diagnosis.
• Understanding of 12-step principles in sobriety.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• High energy with engaging personality and strong people skills.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical services via individual, group and family therapy.
• Provide crisis intervention and referrals for patients.
• Participate in clinical assessments and screenings for admissions.
• Write and submit clinical admission, discharge and updated treatment plans and UR updates.
• Conduct assessments and evaluations per treatment criteria.
• Engage patients from admission through treatment for quality care.
• Document patient notes and data, including symptom monitoring.
• Document weekly progress notes and questionnaires.
• Keep patient charts up to date.
• Collaborate with medical and clinical teams; notify of high-risk findings.
• Participate in weekly staffing of patients.
• Contact current patients regularly to maintain engagement.
• Support clinical services for team members as needed.
• Adhere to treatment rules and referrals; quality improvement initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.

Lake Wellness Center operates four innovative facilities throughout South Louisiana. Members of Lake Detox and Wellness Center have years of experience in working with patients battling addiction. Our treatment team is staffed with caring, compassionate, and qualified clinicians.

We have an opportunity for a Counselor to join us and make Lake Wellness Center your new "work home". This position is Monday-Thursday 1:00-9:00 PM and Friday 9:00 am-5:00 pm.

To be considered, you must have prior experience as a counselor, have a license or provisional license, and preferably have previous experience in substance abuse/addiction treatment.

If you join our team, you'll enjoy the following responsibilities:

• Provide clinical services via individual, group and family therapy.
• Provide crisis intervention and referrals for patients.
• Participate in clinical assessments and screenings to aide in the admissions process.
• Write and submit clinical master admission, discharge and updated treatment plans, and clinical updates for UR review.
• Conduct assessments and evaluations based on the model/treatment criteria.
• Engage patients at admission and through their treatment episode to ensure delivery of the best patient care with unconditional positive regard.
• Document patient notes, interventions, phone calls, and overall patient data, including symptom monitoring.
• Document weekly progress notes and weekly progress questionnaires.
• Keep all patient charts up to date.
• Work collaboratively with the medical and clinical team and provide immediate notification of unusual or potentially high-risk findings.
• Actively participate in weekly medical and/or clinical staffing of patients.
• Contact current patients on a regular basis to keep patients engaged.
• Provide support for clinical services to other team members when needed.
• Adhere to rules and regulations regarding treatment, such as group size, caseload and referrals.
• Aggressively implement continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.

You must have the following education, skills and experience to be considered:

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree. Master's degree preferred.
• Current, unrestricted license - LAC, CAC, RAC, CCS, LMSW, LCSW, LPC (or PLPC), LMFT (or PLMFT), etc. A Counselor in Training (CIT) may be permitted in lieu of a license.
• Prior experience as a clinician, providing therapy services in addiction treatment or dual-diagnosis.
• Possess an understanding of the role of 12-step principles in sobriety.
• Ability to positively interact and develop rapport with patients and their families, professional support staff, team members and various individuals from the community agencies.
• Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally.
• High energy with engaging personality and strong people skills.
• Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings.
• Ability to multi-task and successfully prioritize workload.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
