Job summary

Quantinuum is seeking an Ion Transport Physicist for its Quantum Computing Hardware team in the US. The role supports ion transport in surface ion traps, doing simulations, modeling, and collaboration with fabrication and control system teams in Broomfield CO or Brooklyn Park MN, with optional remote up to 2 days per week.

The ideal candidate has a PhD and at least five years of relevant experience, including Python-driven simulations and ion/atom transport knowledge.

Qualifications

• PhD completed prior to starting.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in ion transport, quantum computing, experimental control, or related fields.
• Experience with numerical simulation of physical systems using Python or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop cutting-edge ion transport methods through numerical simulation and modeling.
• Create and maintain software tools for ion transport waveform design.
• Provide technical input into ion trap top-metal geometry for novel transport methods.
• Review results to identify areas for further investigation.
• Present scientific results at conferences and in publications.
