Apply now and energize your career with a true leader in global energy.About the Summer InternshipAs a Summer Engineering Intern at AES, you will gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced professionals on projects that support the future of the electric grid and the energy transition. You'll apply your academic knowledge to real-world challenges, develop technical and analytical skills, and collaborate with teams across engineering, operations, and business functions.Support engineers on a variety of electric infrastructure projects designing future state distribution and transmission power systemDevelop unique solutions to gather, store, and utilize electrical asset data implemented and collected in the field to improve data driven decision making. Create and maintain electrical models using power flow software such as PSSE and CYME.Create scope of work documents, cost estimates, and schedules for assigned projects engaging engineering and other SMEs as required.Work with AES engineering and finance teams to build the project business cases using financial modeling tools.Validate project financial data submitted to the annual budget review process.Manage the budget for assigned T&D annual investment programs.Utilize Management of Change and Asset Governance processes for controlling the modification of equipment, systems, and processesParticipate in root cause analyses (RCAs) for significant T&D equipment failuresSupport development and updates to Asset Life Cycle Plans (ALCP) for critical asset classesWork in an Agile, collaborative environment partnering with technicians, engineers, regulatory experts and businesspeople of all backgrounds and disciplines to solve complex problemsAttend site visits to substations or other engineering sites to verify electric facilities through field research and learn about complex T&D systemsParticipate in formalized AES-specific learning opportunities to further your knowledge and understanding towards accelerating the responsible energy transitionNetwork with peers, AES leaders, and other like-minded employees in dedicated events, lunch and learns and speaker series’Use industry leading software to study potential problems on the electrical grid and proactively propose solutionsActively engage in open discussions to identify ways the company can improve to be better prepared for the future of the energy worldAES is an Equal Opportunity Employer who is committed to building strength and delivering long-term sustainability through diversity and inclusion.
