Job summary

Garry Executive Search is conducting a confidential, retained search for a fee-only registered investment advisor in Central New Jersey seeking an experienced Investment Director to lead its investment research function.

The successful candidate will direct research across public equities, fixed income, ETFs, mutual funds, and alternative investments, help guide strategic asset allocation decisions, and support the firm's investment committee.

Qualifications

• CFA charterholder.
• 8+ years of professional investment research, portfolio management, or institutional investment experience.
• Deep understanding of equities, fixed income, ETFs, mutual funds, and portfolio construction.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Demonstrated leadership, project management, and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the firm's investment research process and help establish research priorities.
• Conduct and oversee fundamental, quantitative, and macroeconomic research across asset classes.
• Evaluate individual securities, ETFs, mutual funds, private investments, and alternative asset strategies.
• Present investment recommendations and strategic insights to the investment committee.
• Monitor portfolio positioning, asset allocation, and risk exposures across client portfolios.
• Assist in the design, implementation, and ongoing refinement of investment strategies and model portfolios.
• Participate in due diligence for external managers and alternative investment opportunities.
• Mentor and develop junior research professionals.
• Help establish research standards, workflows, and best practices
• Participate in client meetings when appropriate to discuss investment strategy and market outlook
• Contribute to written market updates, commentary, white papers, and educational content

Garry Executive Search is conducting a confidential, retained search on behalf of a fee-only registered investment advisor in Central New Jersey seeking an experienced Investment Director to lead its investment research function. This is a key leadership role responsible for the development, oversight, and evolution of the firm's investment strategies and portfolio construction process.

The successful candidate will direct research across public equities, fixed income, ETFs, mutual funds, and alternative investments, help guide strategic asset allocation decisions, and support the firm's investment committee. The role also includes mentoring junior analysts, contributing to thought leadership and client communications, and helping shape the future direction of the firm's investment platform.

What You'll Do

• Lead the firm's investment research process and help establish research priorities

What We're Looking For

Required:

• CFA charterholder
• 8+ years of professional investment research, portfolio management, or institutional investment experience
• Deep understanding of equities, fixed income, ETFs, mutual funds, and portfolio construction
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Demonstrated leadership, project management, and organizational abilities

Preferred:

• Advanced degree in finance, economics, business, or related field
• Experience serving on an investment committee or similar decision-making body
• Experience evaluating alternative investments, including private credit, private equity, real estate, and hedge fund strategies
• Experience using Bloomberg Terminal and other institutional research platforms
• Experience mentoring analysts or leading research teams

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary $150K-$200K, flexible for the right background, plus performance-based incentives
• Employee-owned firm; all employees participate in an ESOP with annual dividend withdrawal
