Job summary

Oliver James Group is partnering with a leading investment bank to hire at Associate and Vice President levels into its Vertical Software, Data & Analytics coverage team in New York, NY. The group advises software and data businesses focused on industry-specific workflows and proprietary data, with mandates spanning sell-side and buy-side M&A, capital raises, recaps, carve-outs, and lending solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years Direct Investment Banking experience required for Associate.
• 7+ years for VP with real M&A transaction experience.
• Experience with technology or software deals preferred.
• SIE, Series 79 and 63 licenses or willingness to obtain.
• Bachelor's or higher in Business, Finance, Mathematics or Economics.
• MBA an asset.

Responsibilities

• Executing M&A and capital raising mandates, with VPs leading deal teams and taking primary responsibility for day-to-day execution.
• Building and reviewing complex financial and M&A models, and valuing both public and private companies.
• Researching clients' financial positions, industry and market data, and M&A opportunities.
• Preparing client presentations, proposals and internal underwriting memos.
• Supporting and, at VP level, leading client negotiations and documentation.
• Managing and developing junior bankers to ensure accuracy and quality across live deals.
• At VP level, taking an active role in business development and prospecting.

Oliver James is partnering with a leading investment bank to hire at both Associate and Vice President level into its Vertical Software, Data & Analytics coverage team. The group advises software and data businesses built for specific industries, companies that combine deep domain expertise, mission-critical workflows and proprietary data, rather than general SaaS. Mandates span sell-side and buy-side M&A, majority and minority capital raises, recapitalizations, carve-outs and lending solutions, with a strong recent track record and a full pipeline of active sell-side engagements.

What you'll be doing

What we're looking for

• Direct Investment Banking experience is essential: 3+ years for Associate, 7+ years for VP
• Real M&A transaction experience, ideally on sell-side processes
• Prior technology or software deal experience is strongly preferred
• Undergraduate degree in Business (Accounting or Finance), Mathematics or Economics; MBA a plus
• SIE, Series 79 and 63 licenses, or willingness to obtain
• Strong attention to detail and comfort working in a lean, high-performing team
