Job summary

Mackenzie Investments' Boston-based Global Quantitative Equity boutique is seeking an Investment Analyst (Quantitative) to build and maintain portfolio management tools, contribute to stock selection models, and support portfolio construction. This role combines human judgment with systematic analytics in a fast-paced, collaborative team.

Ideal candidate has a quantitative degree, 0–3 years of experience, strong Python and SQL skills, and a passion for markets.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a quantitative discipline (CS/Engineering/Finance/Economics/Statistics) or related.
  • 0–3 years of quantitative equity experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of programming (Python) and SQL databases.
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg, FactSet, and Axioma.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset within an established firm.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and teamwork flexibility.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create robust quantitative tools and infrastructure to construct and monitor portfolios with Portfolio Managers.
  • Support day-to-day portfolio management activities.
  • Develop stock selection models for Emerging Markets, Global, International and US portfolios.
  • Present analysis and investment ideas to Portfolio Managers.
  • Monitor research and events to gain insights for improved returns and risk.
  • Understand global macroeconomics to generate insights for better risk-adjusted returns.

Mackenzie Investments’ fast growing Global Quantitative Equity boutique based in Boston, MA is looking for an Investment Analyst (Quantitative). This team manages 30 billion AUM, and utilizes a bottom-up, fundamental quantitative approach and efficient trade execution in seeking to generate alpha. Consisting of a blend of seasoned industry professionals with lengthy track records and tech-savvy recent graduates, the team implements traditional and alternative strategies in global and emerging markets.

The Investment Analyst will be responsible for building and maintaining portfolio management processes and analytics. As a member of this investment team, you will develop and enhance systems that power alpha modeling, portfolio construction and monitoring, combining human judgement with systematic and automated processes.

Primary responsibilities
  • In conjunction with Portfolio Managers and Analysts on the team, create robust quantitative tools and infrastructure used to construct and monitor portfolios
  • Support day-to-day portfolio management activities
  • Assist in development of stock selection models for Emerging Markets, Global, International and US portfolios
  • Present analysis and investment ideas to Portfolio Managers
  • Monitor research and events in the quantitative investment field with the goal of gaining investment and process insights that can enhance portfolio returns and risk
  • Understand global macroeconomics and global financial markets with the goal of generating insights to improve risk adjusted returns of portfolios
Minimum requirements
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Economics, Statistics or other quantitative discipline (Advanced degree welcome)
  • 0 – 3 years of quantitative equity experience
  • Advanced knowledge of programming (Python), database knowledge (SQL)
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg, Factset, Axioma
  • A “can do” attitude as part of an entrepreneurial group within an established firm
  • Meticulous attention to detail and flexibility to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
