Job summary

HIMCO in Hartford, CT seeks a entry-level Credit Research Analyst to support municipal bond investment analysis and research. You will assess issuer financials, trends, and policy developments while building robust models to evaluate credit quality and relative value.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Public Policy, Political Science, Government or a related field
  • 0-2+ years of relevant experience in credit research, fixed income investing, public finance, government, or economic research
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity in investing, public policy, financial analysis, and economics
  • Ability to synthesize information from across disciplines
  • Understanding of financial statements, accounting concepts, and financial modeling
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Experience with AI and workflow automation applications such as CoPilot, Visual Studio Code, and Power Automate is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Self-starter who takes ownership of projects and pursues opportunities with limited direction
  • Team-oriented and able to contribute positively to an intellectually rigorous investment environment
  • Progress toward or willingness to pursue the CFA designation is a plus
  • Required to affirm to HIMCO’s Code of Ethics and comply with disclosure of accounts, holdings, and pre-clearance of trades
  • Covered Associates must disclose political contributions given within the past 2 calendar years

Responsibilities
