Responsibilities

  • Conduct internal/external investigations of high-risk compliance matters, fraud, and other sensitive/internal matters.
  • Investigate low-to-medium risk matters relative to financial risk, scope, and complexity.
  • Provide advanced investigative and analytic support, gather and track related information, and make recommendations.
  • Data mine internal and external systems to obtain supporting documentation.
  • Perform basic data analysis to identify problems and mitigate risk.
  • Collaborate with clients and other departments on escalated investigations.
  • Analyze account transactions to identify fraudulent activity and monitor for controlled addresses under applicable laws.
  • Assist units to review risk exposures, create and implement processes, and support projects.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry practices and regulations related to fraud and compliance.

As an Investigator II, you will identify and analyze suspicious activity, fraud risks, policy violations, and financial crime concerns that impact clients and the firm. Using strong analytical and investigative skills, you will detect emerging threats, uncover critical insights, and take timely action to prevent losses and mitigate risk. This role plays a key part in safeguarding client assets, preserving the firm's reputation, and strengthening our fraud detection and prevention efforts.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct internal/external investigations of high risk compliance matters, financial fraud, and other sensitive/internal matters. Investigate low-to-medium risk matters relative to financial risk, scope, and complexity. Provide advanced investigative and analytic support, gather and track related information, and make appropriate recommendations.Complete data mining of internal and external systems to obtain appropriate supporting documentation. Complete basic data analysis to identify potential problems and mitigate risk throughout the firm. Work with clients and other departments on escalated and high-profile investigations.Analyze and interpret account transactions to identify fraudulent and suspicious activity. Take the necessary steps to detect fraudulent accounts, monitor for controlled addresses, and meet the requirements of the USA PATRIOT Act.Assist business and staff units to review and assess potential problems and risk exposures. Create, manage, and implement processes and procedures. Provide detailed subject matter support on projects.Maintain current knowledge of industry practices, developments, products, services and trends, including relevant laws and regulations related to fraud and compliance.Provide training to investigators on processes and other departments on emerging fraud trends.Required QualificationsBachelors degree or equivalent (4-years)3-5 years of relevant experienceDemonstrated fraud, compliance, and investigative competencies.Experience handling general investigations.Solid knowledge of fraud, compliance, physical security, and relevant laws and regulations.Solid interviewing skills.Solid ability to manage, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks.Solid written and verbal communication skills.Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.Solid computer and software skills, including working knowledge of several internal systems from across the organization and product lines.Preferred QualificationsFacilitation skills.Working knowledge of Ameriprise products, services and business lines related to area of responsibility.In-Office CollaborationWe are a client-centric, relationship-based business. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
