Job summary

Capitol Broadcasting Company seeks an experienced Investigative Reporter for WRAL-TV's Enterprise Team to lead investigations, accountability storytelling, and consumer-focused reporting across TV, digital, and social platforms.

You will produce, shoot, edit, and deliver compelling content for WRAL.com, WRAL News+, YouTube, and live broadcasts, collaborating with editors, photojournalists, and producers. Flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of newsroom reporting with live, field, and investigative focus.
• Proficiency with video shooting and non-linear editing systems (Edius, Premiere, Final Cut).
• Strong command of AP style and journalism best practices.
• Familiarity with data journalism, spreadsheets, and FOIA/public records processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and produce enterprise-level investigative and consumer-focused stories across platforms.
• Pitch, research, and execute original stories for WRAL Investigates and 5 On Your Side.
• Cultivate sources, gather data, and file public records requests.
• Shoot video and edit packages under tight deadlines.
• Write scripts and digital articles with clarity and accuracy.
• Produce content in TV, digital, and online formats.
• Deliver on-air presentations and conduct insightful interviews.
• Create graphics and data-driven visuals to explain complex topics.
