Job summary

San Diego Community College District in San Diego, CA seeks an Investigative Analyst to support People, Culture, & Technology Services. Responsibilities include applying employment laws, guiding managers on personnel matters, and participating in investigations and disciplinary processes.

Selected candidate will work in a district setting, interact with unions, and ensure compliance with policies. Exempt, full-time position with standard 8–5 hours and district benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in employment, labor, or related field and five years of HR or labor relations experience.
  • Juris doctor or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state employment, labor, and education laws.
  • Experience in conducting or assisting with workplace investigations and administrative hearings.
  • Experience interacting with union stewards or representatives.
  • Experience providing guidance to managers and supervisors on personnel matters.
  • Experience interpreting Collective Bargaining Agreements and employment policies.
  • Experience administering discipline and due process including drafting counseling, disciplinary docs, and performance evaluations.

Location: District

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8am–5pm; selected candidate may be required to adjust work days/hours based on department needs.

Position

Applications are being accepted for an Investigative Analyst in the People, Culture, and Technology Services Division. The position is located at 3375 Camino del Rio South, San Diego, 92108.

Desired Qualifications
  • Any combination of training and experience equivalent to: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in employment, labor, or industrial relations, business or public administration, law, or related field and five years of increasingly responsible human resources or labor relations experience. Juris doctor or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business or Public Administration preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state employment, labor, and education laws.
  • Experience in conducting or assisting with workplace investigations and administrative hearings.
  • Experience interacting with union stewards or representatives.
  • Experience providing guidance to managers and supervisors on personnel matters.
  • Experience interpreting Collective Bargaining Agreements and employment policies.

  • Previous experience within an educational institution or public entity is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Foreign Degree

Applicants with foreign degrees must have coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, INC. Conditions of Employment

Selected candidate is required to complete the following prior to employment:

  • Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (renewed every 4 years).
  • Have fingerprints taken by Live Scan at the District’s expense (clearance required before first day).
  • Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States (I-9 requirements).
  • Attend a new hire processing appointment in People, Culture, and Technology Services at the District Administrative Offices.
