Job summary

ProFarm, an agricultural technology company headquartered in Davis, California, seeks an IPB Technician to support laboratory and greenhouse studies for microbial biopesticide development. Responsibilities include maintaining insect colonies, rearing larvae, preparing bioassay materials, and supporting plant care and irrigation systems.

Ideal candidates have hands-on lab or greenhouse experience, strong communication, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Hands-on laboratory, greenhouse, plant-care, or irrigation experience.
• Professional and positive attitude.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a multitude of insect colonies and healthy plants in laboratory, growth room and greenhouse.
• Collect eggs and larvae from a variety of insect species to synchronize established colonies.
• Prepare a weekly supply of insect larvae to support bioassay needs and culture maintenance.
• Prepare materials for bioassays and assist in setting up various bioassays (in vitro and in planta).
• Maintain the laboratory and greenhouse by cleaning glassware, growing containers, benches, floors and work areas.
• Plant, transplant, water, fertilize, prune and monitor greenhouse crops for research.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and maintain irrigation systems and equipment.
• Monitor and maintain greenhouse climate-control conditions (temp, humidity, lighting, ventilation).
• Release and monitor beneficial insects per study protocols and IPM practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
