Job summary

CITY HOME in Plant City, FL, is seeking an Inventory Transfer Technician (CDL required) to move freight safely between distribution centers. You will operate CITY HOME tractors, maintain DOT logs, and ensure loads are secured for transport.

Qualifications

• Must pass pre-employment drug test, background check, and driving test.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; 1–5 years of related experience.
• Full-time 40 hours per week with a flexible schedule.
• Valid Class A CDL and DOT medical card; clean driving record.
• Able to work in a large non-air-conditioned Distribution Center; no travel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Drive company vehicle to transfer inventory between Distribution Centers.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip audits; report mechanical issues.
• Communicate delivery delays to internal customers.
• Inspect and secure trailer loads for safe transport.
• Move containers around the Distribution Center yard.
• Support the Distribution Center when driver duties are not required.

What This Role Is…

As an Inventory Transfer Technician, the primary function of this position is to deliver freight between distribution centers in a safe, professional, and efficient manner. The Inventory Transfer Technician Associate is also responsible for evaluating trailer loads, and ensuring all loads are secured properly to ensure safe transports. Your contributions will ensure the success of the Operations Department at CITY HOME.

What You’ll Do…

As an Inventory Transfer Technician, your primary responsibilities will be to:

• Drive company vehicle in a safe manner in order to transfer inventory between Distribution Centers. Ensure proper hours of operation are maintained. Use hand device to keep a daily DOT (Department of Transportation) E-log and understand and follow DOT Regulations
• Conduct pre and post trip audits to ensure vehicle is safe to operate. Communicates mechanical problems to Mechanic
• Contacts internal customers to communicate any delivery delays
• Examine and evaluate trailer loads, and ensure all loads are secured properly for safe transport
• Move containers around the Distribution Center yard as directed
• Support the Distribution Center when Driver responsibilities are not needed and performs duties as assigned

  • One (1) to Five (5) years of experience

• Be able to work in a large non-air-conditioned Distribution Center (warehouse)

  • This position requires long periods of sitting, occasional standing, lifting, bending and squatting
  • Flexible work week on the road driving a CITY HOME tractor trainer
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Excel, Word, and Outlook, etc.)
• Certifications / Licenses
• Valid Driver’s License Required – Class A CDL Required
  • Clean driving record
  • Current/valid DOT physical
