Job summary

POET in Alexandria, IN is seeking an Inventory Specialist to manage parts, tools and equipment for efficient plant operations. This on-site role supports the maintenance program with accuracy and collaboration, reporting to the leadership team.

The successful candidate will ensure inventory accuracy, oversee documentation, and help optimize reorder points while maintaining a safe, compliant work environment at the facility.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience with Maximo is a plus.
  • UpTime Elements Maintenance Reliability Certification or equivalent is a plus.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain forklift certification.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn accounting systems.
  • Self-starter who works well in a team.
  • Strong organizational, time management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage documentation records for deliveries and inventory transactions.
  • Maintain accountability for tools, equipment and supplies.
  • Keep storeroom and shipping/receiving areas clean and organized.
  • Order parts and equipment with the local leadership team; maintain reorder points.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and report discrepancies to management.

JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Inventory Specialist, you will be responsible for the requisition, inventory, and management of parts, tools and equipment to assure efficient and effective operation of the plant. You will be an integral part of a best-in-class maintenance program by supporting the inventory and planning processes through accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration. This is an on-site role located in Alexandria, IN.

Responsibilities include:
  • Properly managing documentation records related to deliveries and inventory transactions.
  • Maintaining accountability for all tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized storeroom and Shipping/Receiving areas.
  • Working with the local leadership team by ordering parts and equipment as needed and maintaining optimized reorder points.
  • Consistently maintaining strong inventory accuracy, while using sound practices to resolve issues and notify management of significant discrepancies.
  • Reviewing obsolete parts and sharing with management options on how to handle.
  • Take an active role in shutdown planning and proactively updates part availability.
  • Operating the forklift for parts movement.
  • Supporting periodic inventory audits.
  • Actively maintaining the Bar/QR code labelling program.
  • Responsible for coordination of plant mobile/EZMax Mobile devices.
  • Coordinate and conduct onsite Maximo Training for new hires and at times assist other POET facilities with Maximo support and troubleshooting.
  • Learn and understand the basic operation of the plant process to understand and anticipate plant needs.
  • Coordinate work functions with fellow team members and other departments within POET.
  • Always maintain a team environment and champion POET in the community.
  • Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
  • Maintain and advance the food safety and quality of POET’s products and processes to deliver a best-in-class culture of quality.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • Having a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Having experience with maintenance managements systems such as Maximo is a plus.
  • UpTime Elements Maintenance Reliability Certification or equivalent certification is also a plus.
  • You have the ability to achieve and maintain forklift certification.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and have the ability to learn computerized accounting systems.
  • You are a self-starter and take initiative, but are also able to work collaboratively with the team.
  • You have excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • You are detail oriented and a critical thinker with the ability to exercise independent judgement.
  • You are dedicated to honesty, confidentiality, and ethical behavior in all business matters and assignments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Occasionally lifting weight up to sixty (60) pounds.
  • Climbing several flights of stairs and ladders.
  • Opening valves.
  • Occasionally bending, twisting and turning while lifting weight of less than fifty (50) pounds.
  • Data entry while seated for greater than one (1) hour.
  • Walking up to two (2) or more miles per day.
  • Pushing brooms, shovels, etc.
  • Working at heights, in confined spaces and at temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees.
  • Standing for extended periods of time.
  • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Using hand and power tools.
  • Due to the physical and safety sensitive nature of this job, you will be subject to a physical and expected to pass a drug screen during the pre-screen process.
  • During employment, you’ll be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements at all times and in all work environments.
  • This position is exposed to work in multiple environments, including plant, laboratory, as well as an office environment.
  • The team member may be exposed to high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, internal and external temperature/weather conditions, and chemicals.
  • In this role, you’ll be asked to drive a POET vehicle.
  • A motor vehicle record check will be conducted during the preemployment process and yearly thereafter.
