Job summary

Armstrong World Industries is seeking an Inventory and SAP Coordinator in Newark, Ohio, to support inventory control processes and SAP transactions within the plant. This full-time role involves performing cycle counts, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring data accuracy across departments.

The successful candidate will have at least 3–5 years of experience in inventory control or supply chain management and a solid background in working with SAP. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and 401k match.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Inventory and SAP Coordinator supports inventory control processes and SAP system transactions within the plant.

  • Coordinate and perform cycle count and physical inventory activities, including planning, scheduling, execution, analysis, and post‑count reconciliation.
  • Identify inventory discrepancies, assist with root‑cause analysis, and support corrective actions.
  • Review and analyze variances to identify issues and escalates as needed.
  • Track inventory accuracy metrics and prepare reports for review.
  • Validate incoming raw material receipts for accuracy and completeness; identify and resolve discrepancies with suppliers and the Procurement Team.
  • Conduct routine checks of material usage against production entries; collaborate with Production Supervisors to ensure data accuracy and process compliance.
  • Act as a key user for SAP inventory processes.
  • Assist in troubleshooting system issues and escalates when needed.
  • Perform daily validation of SAP transactions to ensure proper sequence, completeness, and compliance with established procedures.
  • Review scrap transactions and identify discrepancies.
  • Generate, print, and manage all SAP‑generated labels; create and maintain custom labeling solutions for special orders.
  • Maintain master data accuracy and provide input on system updates.
  • Provide guidance to team members on SAP inventory procedures.
  • Identify process issues and suggest improvements.
  • Assist in maintaining SOPs and work instructions for inventory‑related processes.
  • Follow established best practices and procedures.
  • Compile and maintain inventory reports and report tracking key inventory metrics including accuracy rates, turnover, obsolescence, and cycle‑count performance.
  • Review inventory data and flag slow‑moving or obsolete materials for review.
  • Communicate inventory issues to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Work with Production, Quality, Procurement, and Finance Teams to ensure alignment on inventory-related processes and data accuracy (duplicate, but retained for clarity).
  • Maintain working relationships across departments to facilitate effective problem‑solving and process improvement (duplicate, retained for clarity).
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, logistics, or related field; OR equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or supply chain management.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience working with SAP (or comparable ERP system) in an inventory or materials management capacity.

Work Environment
  • Office Environment – This position operates in a professional office environment and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. No PPE is required.
  • Plant Environment – This position operates in a manufacturing setting and can be subject to extreme cold and hot temperatures; uneven walking surfaces with cords, tools, and other obstacles; intermittent loud noises; and dusty or dirty conditions. Required PPE includes hard hat (when required), safety glasses, earplugs, steel toe/composite boots, and fall protection.
