Job summary

Pelican, a leader in protective equipment solutions, seeks a Receiver in Torrance, CA to manage inbound materials with precision under general supervision. You will verify and process documents, enter data into ERP, and coordinate with multiple departments to keep inventory moving efficiently.

The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and collaboration with Purchasing, Quality, and Warehouse teams to maintain organized receiving areas and timely stock movement.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of receiving, warehouse, material handling, or related experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of receiving and inventory processes.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and ERP systems; SAP experience preferred.
• Ability to accurately review documentation and enter transactional information.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with employees, vendors, and delivery personnel.
• Forklift certification required or ability to obtain certification within the introductory period.

Responsibilities

• Receives and verifies incoming materials and products against packing slips, manifests, purchase orders, delivery receipts, and other documentation.
• Confirms quantities, weights, item information, and condition of received goods and reports shortages, damages, or discrepancies.
• Ensures required receiving documentation is complete and accurate.
• Processes receipts and related transactions in the ERP system and maintains electronic and/or physical receiving records.
• Routes materials for required inspection and supports the timely movement of received goods to appropriate storage or production areas.
• Processes returned materials, RMAs, stock transfers, and materials received from outside vendors as assigned.
• Coordinates with Purchasing, Accounting, Quality, Warehouse, and other departments to resolve routine receiving discrepancies.
• Assists delivery drivers and supports loading, unloading, staging, and movement of incoming materials.
• Operates forklifts and other material‑handling equipment in accordance with established safety requirements.
• Actively supports and complies with Pelican’s objectives, guidelines and commitment to Safety, Environment and Quality
• Maintains an organized and safe receiving area and follows established receiving, inventory, quality, and safety procedures.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
