Job summary

21 Air is seeking a Purchasing Agent in Miami to support Maintenance with critical part requirements, expediting orders, and coordinating logistics for AOG, MELs, and service orders.

You will source parts, negotiate with vendors, issue purchase orders, and verify deliveries while ensuring proper certifications and compliance with budgets. Requires strong negotiation, organization, and travel ability.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of aviation terminology and FAR Part 121/145.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Experience with AOG, MELs, and deferred maintenance logistics.
  • Proficient in inventory systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Familiar with HAZMAT handling and aviation part certifications.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Source and purchase all parts, materials, and tooling to support 21 Air maintenance requirements.
  • Negotiate prices with vendors to obtain best deals for the company.
  • Create purchasing orders and obtain approval from Purchasing Manager; maintain receipts and inventory records.
  • Verify purchases against master list; suggest alternatives for expensive items; ensure proper certifications.
  • Evaluate suppliers on price, quality, availability, and other criteria.
  • Expedite and route parts to/from maintenance aircraft to support operations.
  • Interact with suppliers to schedule deliveries and resolve shipping errors.
  • Maintain a clean, organized shipping/receiving area and tool room.
  • Move serviceable and unserviceable parts to required locations for shipping and receiving.
  • Pick up parts from outside vendors or shipping facilities as needed.
  • Verify HAZMAT requirements for incoming/outgoing shipments.
  • Monitor shelf-life affected products and replenish supplies as necessary.
  • Monitor parts and tool usage; update stock status and allocations.
  • Maintain calibrated tooling and test equipment with records of calibration.
  • Interview vendors to learn about products and pricing; attend industry trade shows.

Description

Job Purpose:

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for supporting Maintenance and Maintenance Control with critical part requirements to fulfill variable demands that impact the operation of the airline initiating purchase orders, expediting existing orders and coordinating logistics to meet the current requirements. This includes AOGs, MELs, Deferred items, and Service Orders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Source and purchase all parts, materials, and tooling necessary to support 21 Air maintenance requirements.
  • Negotiate prices with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best deals on behalf of the company.
  • Create purchasing orders and obtain approval from the Purchasing Manager to request payments and maintain receipts, records, and inventories.
  • Verify purchases by comparing them to a master list and recommending alternatives for expensive or irrelevant products ensuring that parts and materials are received with proper certifications and adhering to projects and budgets.
  • Evaluate suppliers by considering price quality, availability, and other criteria.
  • Expedite and route parts to and from maintenance aircraft in a timely manner to support all maintenance operations.
  • Interact with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shipping/receiving area and tool room performing additional duties as may be assigned.
  • Move serviceable and unserviceable parts to required locations for shipping and receiving.
  • Pick up parts from outside vendors or shipping facilities as required.
  • Verify HAZMAT requirements are met for incoming / outgoing shipments.
  • Monitor all shelf-life affected products and discard and replenish supplies as necessary.
  • Monitor parts, tool usage, update stock status and allocation as required.
  • Maintain calibrated tooling and test equipment in a current state including records of calibration.
  • Interview vendors and visiting suppliers’ facilities to learn about products, services, and pricing.
  • Attend industry trade shows to learn about and stay current trends and to meet suppliers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Crew Scheduling Manager based on operational needs

Requirements
