Toshiba America Energy Systems seeks an Inventory Cost Accountant to join our West Allis, WI office. The role analyzes inventory cost of goods sold, maintains GAAP-compliant journal entries, and collaborates with project accounting on Parts Sales transactions for specific Projects.

The position supports month-end close and internal controls, with a Bachelor’s in accounting or finance and 0–2 years of relevant experience. Proficiency with Excel and Oracle ERP is a plus; CPA/CMA preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; 0–2 years of relevant experience expected.
• GAAP knowledge and good problem-solving skills are required.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and the ability to multi-task are essential.
• Experience with ERP/financial systems (Oracle preferred) is a plus.

• Issue invoices timely for Parts Sales Team.
• Assist in improving internal controls related to inventory.

Position Summary

We are seeking an Inventory Cost Accountant to work out of our West Allis, WI office. The Inventory/Cost Accountant will prepare and maintain financial and business transactions, applying generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”) in the preparation of journal entries and reconciliation of Inventory and Cost Accounts. The employee will collaborate with project accounting and project managers on Parts Sales transactions related to specific Projects. This employee will also be responsible for other month-end activities related to financial reporting.

Essential Duties

• Perform detailed analysis of Parts Cost of Goods Sold and inventory accounts.
• Timely issuance of invoices for Parts’ Sales Team.
• Assist in the improvement in internal controls related to inventory.
• Prepare inventory, accruals, intercompany, parts sales, and cost accounts journal entries and reconciliations monthly.
• Actively engage in the preparation of the inventory excess and obsolescence reserve accruals.
• Participate in the Inventory and COGS close process to ensure timely and accurate accounting and reporting in accordance with US GAAP and company policies.
• Lead Semi Annual Physical Inventory Counts.
• Inventory valuation analysis (raw materials and finished goods, standard/actual, etc.)
• Assist with internal and external audits and provide information as requested.
• Partner with colleagues in developing, proposing, and implementing policies and procedures improving internal controls, consistency - and efficient use of resources.

Education And Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required, strong preference for Accounting or Finance major
• 0-2 years of relevant work experience, including knowledge of GAAP.
• Experience examining, analyzing, and interpreting accounting systems, records, and reports.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
• Experience with ERP / Financial systems (preferably Oracle) a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
• Understands proper controls regarding inventory

Certifications and Licenses

• CPA or CMA preferred

Work Environment

The majority of this work takes place in an office and the work environment is that of a typical office environment in a manufacturing setting where noise levels are usually moderate. Occasionally, the employee will interact with personnel in the plant where he/she may be exposed to higher noise levels.
