Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must be at least 19 years old to sell tobacco products.
  • Dependable with flexible schedule.
  • Valid state driver’s license and driving eligibility.
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs and handle heavy boxes.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • One year retail experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass background and credit checks.

Responsibilities

  • Count equipment, merchandise, material, or supplies in stock and post totals to inventory records using computer or manually.
  • Stock and clean all shelves. Maintain current dates on products.
  • Compare inventories with what’s on office records.
  • Computes figures from records such as production records, sales orders, or purchase invoices to obtain current inventory.
  • Assist in negotiating vendor contracts in order to maximize profit.
  • Assists with merchandising new products.
  • May prepare reports on price lists, inventory balance, and shortages.
  • Assists in ordering of inventory.
  • Evaluate the shipping process and work to improve efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance of company policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Inventory Control Specialist tracks inventory and stock changes. This position will be responsible in overseeing inventory control, managing deliveries, inspecting inventory, maintaining inventory records, and assists with ordering products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Count equipment, merchandise, material, or supplies in stock and posts totals to inventory records using computer or manually.
  • Stock and clean all shelves. Maintain current dates on products.
  • Compare inventories with what’s on office records.
  • Computes figures from records such as production records, sales orders, or purchase invoices to obtain current inventory.
  • Assist in negotiating vendor contracts in order to maximize profit.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and to effectively and professionally assist customers in this type of environment.
  • Ability to get certified to operate a forklift.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with others.
  • Strong customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up. Ability to convey information clearly, effectively, and professionally.
  • Active listening skills; attentiveness when listening to others to understand, ask appropriate questions, etc.
  • Ability to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide, find ratios/percentages) quickly and correctly and read bar charts and graphs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or GED (General Education Degree)
  • Must be at least 19 years of age to sell tobacco products.
  • Must be dependable and able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Valid state driver’s license and be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Company’s driving policy.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs. and lift heavy boxes.
  • Must have great customer service
  • 1 year in related retail store experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass a background screening and credit check.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job operates in a retail business environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
