Job summary

Bottleless Nation is seeking an Inventory Control Specialist to support its Indianapolis manufacturing operation. You will maintain accurate inventory records across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods, and run cycle counts to align physical inventory with ERP/MRP system data.

Collaborate with Purchasing, Production, Planning, Warehouse, and Quality to investigate discrepancies, implement controls, and support scalable growth.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in inventory control, cycle count, or materials management.
  • Experience using an ERP/MRP system for inventory transactions and auditing.
  • Understanding of bills of materials, work orders, inventory transactions, and production processes.
  • Attention to detail and discipline following documented inventory procedures and controls.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain inventory accuracy across materials, locations, and categories.
  • Establish and maintain effective inventory-control practices to align physical inventory with ERP/MRP records.
  • Administer the cycle-count program, including scheduling, counting, variance analysis, corrective action, and reporting.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Research and resolve variances, shortages, overages, and transaction errors per SOPs.
  • Maintain proper inventory identification, labeling, location control, and traceability.
  • Prepare and process inventory adjustments with documentation and approvals.
  • Escalate significant inventory-control issues and trends to management.

Join our rapidly growing Indianapolis manufacturing operation as we expand our product portfolio, increase in-house assembly, and build the systems needed to support significant growth. This position offers an opportunity to take meaningful ownership, improve operating processes, and directly influence manufacturing performance.

The Inventory Control Specialist will play a central role in building reliable inventory controls as the manufacturing operation expands across additional products, materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.

Position Summary

The Inventory Control Specialist has primary accountability for maintaining accurate inventory records and effective inventory control across raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods. This position is responsible for ensuring that physical inventory accurately aligns with system records through daily cycle counts, root-cause analysis, and adherence to Company standard operating procedures for inventory adjustments within the ERP system.

The Inventory Control Specialist works closely with purchasing, production, planning, warehouse, and quality to identify, investigate, and resolve inventory discrepancies and implement controls to prevent recurring inventory errors. This position provides accurate inventory information, identifies inventory risks, and supports the controlled movement of materials throughout warehouse and production locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and maintain inventory accuracy across assigned materials, locations, and inventory categories.
  • Establish and maintain effective inventory-control practices to ensure physical inventory consistently aligns with ERP/MRP system records.
  • Administer the cycle-count program, including scheduling, count execution, variance analysis, corrective action, and results reporting.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Research and resolve inventory variances, shortages, overages, transaction errors, and material-location discrepancies following Company’s standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain proper inventory identification, labeling, location control, and material traceability.
  • Prepare and process inventory adjustments in accordance with Company standard operating procedures, including required documentation and management approval.
  • Escalate significant inventory-control issues and trends to management.

Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 2–4 years of experience in inventory control, cycle count program, or materials management.
  • Experience using an ERP/MRP system for inventory transactions and auditing.
  • Understand bills of material, work orders, inventory transactions, and production processes.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and discipline in following documented inventory procedures and transaction controls.
  • Good organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with Production, Warehouse, Purchasing, Planning, and other departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with barcode scanning, serialized product, and warehouse-location controls.
  • Experience with inventory KPIs such as inventory accuracy, turns, shortages, and obsolete inventory.
Work Environment

This position works in both office and manufacturing/warehouse environments and requires regular interaction with production personnel, warehouse employees, purchasing, planning, and management. The position will require standing, walking, lifting within company guidelines, and working around manufacturing equipment and materials.

  • Location: Indianapolis (on-site)
  • Work schedule: 7:00-4:30 Monday-Friday
  • Travel percentage: less than 5%
  • Employment status: Exempt
  • Pay: $48,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
